The EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary on February 25, was declared as a regular working day, based on the Official Gazette after the declaration of Malacañang that February 24 will be a special non-working holiday.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the son of the late dictator who was ousted during the EDSA People Power Revolution, surprisingly announced the said changes through Proclamation No. 167.

According to the Official Gazette, it was changed to apply the holiday economics, to have a long weekend, and to encourage travel within the country in connection with tourism without making the event less significant.

It can be remembered that 37 years ago, people marched in EDSA for four days, ending the dictatorship of the Marcos regime for over 20 years.
