Hinimok ni PNP Chief, PGen. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar ang lahat ng PNP personnel na hindi pa nakapag register na i-avail ang extention ng voter’s registration para sa May 2022 national and local elections.
“As Chief PNP, I am encouraging our personnel who have not yet registered to take advantage of this extension. I am ordering our units commanders to give your men the time to do so,”pahayag ni Eleazar.
Paliwanag ni Eleazar na ang right to suffrage ay dapat din i-execised ng mga kapulisan dahil bahagi ito sa obligasyon ng mga Filipino bilang mga responsible citizens.
Umapela din si PNP chief sa publiko na magpa rehistro na at huwag ng hintayin ang last-minute registration na posibleng maging sanhi pa ng argumento o hindi pagkaka-intindihan.
“Samantalahin natin ang ibinigay na extension ng Comelec at huwag na naman nating hintayin na kung kelan patapos na ang buwan ng Oktubre ay saka lamang tayo magpupumilit na magpa-rehistro dahil mauuwi na naman ito sa init ng ulo at pagtatalo.
Baguhin na natin ang nakagawiang last-minute registration,” dagdag pa ni PGen Eleazar.
Dahil sa panawagan ng mga mambabatas at publiko, nagdesisyon ang poll body na i-extend ang voter’s registration process mula October 11 hanggang October 30,2021.
Siniguro naman ni Eleazar, nakalatag na rin ang ipatutupad na security measures ng PNP para sa extention ng voters registration.
“All chiefs of police and other unit commanders are expected to maintain the same level of alertness and for them to use the same security measures in Comelec offices and other registration sites,” dagdag pa ni PGen Eleazar.
