Inatasan ng Energy Regulatory Commission ang mga distribution utilities tulad ng Meralco na huwag munang putulan ng kuryente ang mga customer na mababa ang naging konsumo hanggang December 31, 2020.

“Distribution Utilities (DUs) are directed NOT to implement any disconnection on account of non-payment of bills until December 31, 2020 for consumers with monthly consumption not higher than twice the ERC approved maximum lifeline consumption level.”
Batay sa inilabas na advisory ng ERC, sinabi ng tanggapan na alinsunod sa Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2) ang kanilang direktiba.
Sa ilalim nito, lahat ng distributon utilities at retail electricity suppliers ay inaatasan din na magpatupad ng 30-day grace period sa mga customer na hindi pa rin nakakabayad ng kanilang electricity bill noong panahon ng enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) at modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
Hindi raw pwedeng magpataw ng interes, penalty o kahit anong uri ng charges ang mga kompanya.
Kung lumampas man sa itinakdang 30-day grace period, dapat umanong payagan ng distributors at suppliers na makapagbayad ang customer sa loob ng tatlong buwang installment.
“Any unpaid balance after the lapse of the 30-day grace period shall be payable in three equal monthly installments without incurring interests, penalties and other charges.”
Hindi sakop ng palugit na mga araw ang government offices, agencies at mga pag-aaring kompanya ng pamahalaan.
Bukod sa distribution utilities at retail suppliers, inaatasan din ng ERC ng parehong direktiba ang generators/suppliers at iba pang government-owned and controlled corporation na nangangasiwa ng electric distribution.
