Former Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Sec. Pefecto Yasay was arrested by the authorities on Thursday due to allegedly violating New Central Bank Act.

In his Facebook post, Yasay confirmed he was arrested by the officials from Manila Police District (MPD) by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 10 in connection to criminal charges against officials of Banco Filipino.

Yasay, together with some of his officials, is accused of committing criminal charges after getting involved in an anomalous loan from Banco Filipino Savings and Mortgages Bank.

However, he condemned the allegations and clarified he joined the bank in 2009.

Alongside with Yasay, former bank chair Teodoro Arcenas Jr.; directors Orlando Samson and Adelaida Adduru-Bowman; and executive vice president Francisco Rivera were also charged with the same case.
