The family and friends of the late former president Corazon “Cory” Aquino gathered by her grave site at Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City to celebrate her 10th year death anniversary.
Former president Noynoy Aquino, along with sisters Ballsy Cruz and Pinky Aquino-Abellada commemorated their mom’s memory.
Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon and Sen. Rodolfo Biazon were also present on the event.
Noynoy, the only son of Cory, praised his mom for being strong despite of all the hardships their family went through.
Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Sen. Leila de Lima also commemorated Cory for her contribution in the Philippines.
“Senator Leila M. de Lima has joined the nation in commemorating the 10th death anniversary of the late President Corazon Aquino today, saying her legacy still lives in the hearts of millions of people who were touched by her courage and heroism,” De Lima said in a statement.
Aquino was born on Jan. 25, 1933, she took over the presidency on Feb. 25, 1986 after mass protests, now called the EDSA people power revolution, helped overthrow the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
Cory died after battling colon cancer on Aug. 1, 2009 at age 76./ with reports from Bombo Christian Yosores; edited by Bombo Sol Marquez.
