Isisiwalat umano ni Gilas Pilipinas head coach Yeng Guiao ang 14-man pool para sa 2019 FIBA World Cup sa pagdating ngayong linggo ni Andray Blatche.
Ayon kay Guiao, inaasahan nitong makakasama na nila ang naturalized big man sa Hulyo 12 sa oras na matapos na ang child custody hearing nito sa Estados Unidos.
Samantala, ikinatuwa naman ng head mentor ang naging resulta ng unang tune-up game ng national squad kontra sa Mighty Sports, na tampok ang mga dekalibreng imports na sina Renaldo Balkman at Eugene Phelps.
Naging sandata ng Gilas ang clutch shots nina Marcio Lassiter at CJ Perez upang mauwi sa 85-85 tabla ang iskor ng laro.
Sinabi ni Guiao, magandang resulta na raw ito kahit na isang buwan pa lamang ang regular na praktis ng Pinoy cagers.
“We just lived off our natural chemistry and it’s really nice to look at. Nobody really was trying to dominate the game, the ball was moving around, they showed good effort on defense,” wika ni Guiao.
“We haven’t really practiced defense the past few days that we practiced, but with the stock knowledge that they have, I think we can still improve on a lot of departments,” dagdag nito.
“So encouraging naman ‘yung resulta… I’d like to thank Mighty for giving us a really good tune-up today.”
