Tinanghal na “most beautiful woman in the Universe ” si R’Bonney Gabriel matapos masungkit ang Miss Universe 2022 crown na ginanap sa New Orleans, Louisiana sa Estados Unidos.
Siya ang pumalit kay Harnaaz Sandhu ng India, at siya rin ang unang nagsuot ng “Force for Good” na korona na ginawa ni Mouawad sa pakikipagtulungan sa Miss Universe Organization sa ilalim ng bagong may-ari nitong si Anne Jakrajutatip.
Sa unang round ng question-and-answer portion ng pageant, tinanong ang mga candidates kung anong pagbabago ang gusto niyang makita sa Miss Universe at kung bakit.
“For me, I would like to see an age increase, because I am 28 years old and that is the oldest age to compete. I think it’s a beautiful thing. My favorite quote is ‘If not now, then when?’ As a woman, I believe that age does not define us. It’s not tomorrow, it’s yesterday but it’s now. The time is now that you can go after what you want,” sagot ni Gabriel.
Sa ikalawang set ng pagtatanong para sa Top 3 finalist isang tanong na lamang ang kanilang sasagutin.
At ang naging sagot ni Gabriel,” Well, I would use it to be a transformational leader. As a very passionate designer, I’ve been sewing for 13 years, I use fashion as a force for good. In my industry, I’m cutting down on pollution through recycled materials when I make my clothing. I teach sewing classes to women who survived from human trafficking and domestic violence and I say that because it is so important to invest in others, invest in our community and use your unique talent to make a difference. We all have something special and when we plant those seeds to other people in our life, we transform them and we use that as a vehicle for change.”
Tinanghal naman na 1st at second runner-up ay sina Amanda Dudamel ng Venezuela at Andreína Martínez ng Dominican Republic.
Samantala, hindi nakapasok sa Top 16 post ang kinatawan ng Pilipinas na si Celeste Cortesi na siyang nagtapos sa semifinals streak ng Pilipinas sa nasabing prestihiyosong pageant.
Ito ang unang pagkakataon na hindi nakapasok ang Pilipinas sa semi-final placement sa Miss Universe mula noong stint ni Venus Raj noong 2010.
