Itinalaga ng Philippine Football Federation (PFF) si Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez bilang national director ng national teams, at director ng men’s national football team (MNFT).

Hangad ni PFF President John Gutierrez na magkaroon ng bagong direksyon ang MNFT sa ilalim ng pamamahala ni Gonzalez sa mga koponan.

“As a former national team player himself, his passion to play for the country, his football knowledge, and his experience all give him a clear understanding on what needs to be done to be successful at the international level,” ayon kay Gutierrez.

“Freddy has always been driven to win. His drive for excellence, professionalism, attention to detail, and great organizational skills are important qualities we need,” dagdag pa niya.

Nilalayon ng organisasyon na makabuo ng pinakamalakas na MNFT, kasabay ng pagpapalit ng direktor nito.

Si Freddy Gonzalez ang pumalit kay Dan Palami na naging team manager ng Philippine Azkals sa loob ng 15 na taon.

“Personally, there is no greater honor than representing the country. My time with the national team was one of my most memorable as a player,” wika ni Gonzalez.

Dagdag pa niya na handa niyang harapin ang mga pagsubok na maaari niyang tahakin bilang bagong direktor ng mga pambansang koponan.

Samantala, nilinaw ng PFF na si Jeff Cheng pa rin ang manager ng women’s national football team na Filipinas.
