Inianunsyo ngayon ng Malacañang ang pagpili ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kay Army Commanding General Lt.Gen. Cirilito Sobejana bilang incoming Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff.
Si Gen. Sobejana ang papalit kay Gen. Gilbert Gapay na nakatakdang magretiro sa darating na Pebrero 4.
Sinabi ni Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, kumpiyansa silang ipagpapatuloy ni Gen. Sobejanan ang modernisasyon sa militar at magpatupad ng mga reporma para maging ganap na propesyunal ang AFP sa mandato nitong tagapagtanggol ng mamamayan at Estado.
Si Gen. Sobejana ay isang medal of valor awardee.
“The Palace confirms that LGEN Cirilito Sobejana will be the next Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. We are confident that General Sobejana will continue to modernize our military and undertake reform initiatives to make the Armed Forces truly professional in its mandate as the protector of the people and the State,” ani Sec. Roque. “We wish General Sobejana all the best in his new tour of duty as we pray for his success.”
