Ibinulgar ni Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert na hindi pa raw ito lubusang gumagaling mahigit tatlong buwan matapos itong dapuan ng coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Matatandaang si Gobert ang kauna-unahang NBA player na nagpositibo sa COVID-19, na nauwi sa pagsuspinde ng NBA sa kasalukuyang season.
Ayon kay Gobert, bagama’t bumalik na raw ang kanyang panlasa, hindi pa rin daw 100% ang kanyang pang-amoy.
“The taste has returned, but the smell is still not 100 percent. I can smell the smells, but not from afar. I spoke to specialists, who told me that it could take up to a year,” wika ni Gobert.
Nabatid na ang pagkawala ng panlasa at pang-amoy ay kabilang sa mga sintomas ng deadly virus.
Sinabi rin ni Gobert, naninibago raw siya dahil matagal-tagal na raw itong hindi nakakapaglaro ng basketball.
Sa ngayon, abala raw ito sa ibang bagay gaya ng boxing, swimming, at pagtakbo sa kabundukan.
“I still feel strange things, but I have never been so long in my life without playing a basketball game,” ani Gobert.
“I don’t know if that is it or the aftermath of the virus. I’m starting to train thoroughly, I still haven’t played five-on-five, but I train individually, I do boxing, swimming, I run in the mountains. Today, I would not say that I feel more tired than before. But I had experiences, a month and a half ago, which scared me. I felt like ants in my toes and wondered what it could be. There were quite a few little things like that.”
