Agarang nag-mobilize ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas ng humanitarian aid para tumulong sa Myanmar matapos itong yanigin ng 7.7 magnitude na lindol na ikinasawi ng mahigit 1,000 indibidwal.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng Office of Civil Defense (OCD) na bumuo ng critical interagency meeting upang i-coordinate ang pagtugon ng Pilipinas at maghatid ng kinakailangang suporta para sa mga apektadong biktima.
Naka-stand by ang Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance Team (PEMAT) mula sa Department of Health, na binubuo ng 31 tauhan.
Dagdag pa, isang light Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team mula sa Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), at Apex Mining Corporation/First Gen-Energy Development Corporation (EDC) SRR Teams na magkakaroon ng kabuuang 80 tauhan.
Dahil dito, umabot na sa 114 ang kabuuang bilang ng mga tauhan, na kinabibilangan ng dalawang tauhan mula sa Office of Civil Defense at Contingent Commander LTC Erwin Diploma ng Philippine Air Force.
Maliban dito, may tatlong karagdagang miyembro ng ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ASEAN-ERAT) na hiniling ng ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance (AHA) na bumiyahe sa Myanmar bago o sa araw ng Marso 30, 2025.
Samantala, nagpaabot naman ng mensahe at pakikiramay si Defense Secretary and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Chairman, Gilberto Teodoro, Jr., aniya, “We stand in solidarity with Myanmar during this difficult time. The Philippines is ready to respond to the urgent needs of our neighbors, and we are mobilizing resources to provide assistance as quickly as possible.”
Maging si Office of Civil Defense Administrator Undersecretary Ariel F. Nepomuceno ay nagpaabot din ng pakikiramay, aniya, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Myanmar. The Office of Civil Defense, along with other government agencies, is committed to assisting Myanmar, drawing from our experience in providing immediate aid during the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.”
