Sa panayam ng Star FM Baguio kay Mia Agraviador, half-Pinay freelance journalist sa Los Angeles, California, inilarawan nito ang nasaksihang buhos ng emosyon sa UCLA Training Center, ang practice facility ng Los Angeles Lakers sa El Segundo, California.
“There was an impromptu memorial inside the parking lot of the practice facility, with the big Lakers logo up, with people bringing in flowers and candles. Some even brought Kobe shoes to lay out there. The people were standing around, hugging each other. A lot of families were there. Some people brought their kids as well, all dressed up in Kobe jerseys.”
Malaki anya ang impluwensiya ni Bryant hindi lang sa mga basketball fans, kundi pati na rin sa malaking bahagi ng Los Angeles.
“In LA, it’s almost impossible not to see that purple and gold [color of the Lakers]. Kobe Bryant is such a huge part of what this team is about. Hardwork and determination and just fighting for what you believe in, that’s the legacy that he’s leaving behind in LA.”
Sa kanyang 20-year basketball career, naglaro si Bryant para sa Los Angeles Lakers, kung saan limang beses niyang nainuwi ang kampeonato kasama ang koponan.
