Umabot sa kabuuang 182 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) ng Cebu City jail Male Dormitory ang natgapos na sa pamamagitan ng Alternative Learning System (ALS) nitong Agosto 30.
Sa nasabing bilang, 50 dito ang nagtapos ng elementarya habang 130 naman ang nagtapos ng Junior high school.
Sa naging talumpati ni Jail Superintendent Metz Milton T Placencia, City Jail Warden, binigyang-diin nito na walang makakahadlang sa paghahangad upang maabot ang mga pangarap.
“In pursuing our dreams, there is nothing such as misfortune, crunch, hardship or failure that can hinder us, it is simply life trying to steer us in a different direction, leading us to the best destination,” ayon sa talumpati ni Placencia.
Ayon naman kay Jail Senior Superintendent Nanding N Bayle, Assistant Regional Director for Operations ng BJMP Region VII na kumakatawan sa Regional Director ng Jail Bureau, binigyang-diin nito ang kahalagahan ng edukasyon at pangalawang pagkakataon para sa mga PDL’s.
“Poverty is not a hindrance to success. It is thru education that one can make things possible. Pursue your education and embrace a positively changed life. Dahil, kung gusto mo talagang magbago, maraming paraan,” ani Bayle.
Samantala, nakatanggap naman ng medalya ang 10 PDL mula sa Bureau of Alternative Learning System.
