Tiniyak ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) na nakahanda ang nasa 2,838 police officers nationwide na magsilbing Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) sa halalan bukas, May 13, sakaling umatras ang mga guro dahil sa isyu ng seguridad
Ayon kay DILG Secretary Eduardo Ano, dapat matuloy ang halalan sa lahat ng mga presinto sa buong bansa kaya naka-standy ang mga pulis.
Pinatitiyak naman ni Secretary Ano sa Philippine National Police (PNP) na tiyaking hindi magiging hadlang ang anumang insidente na may kaugnayan sa peace and order at makaboto ang lahat ng mga Filipino
“Our men and women of the PNP are ready to do their duty under the law. They have already undergone training by the Comelec for this contigency and they are on stand-by should their service required,” pahayag ni Sec. Ano.
Sa bilang ng 2,833 police officers na magsilbing election boards na trained ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC), 1,032 dito ay nakadestino sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Sa area naman ng Police Regional Office (PRO)-10, nasa 415 pulis ang handa para maging BEI; PRO4-A, nasa 363; PRO-13, nasa 231; PRO-5, nasa 201; PRO-11, nasa 175 ,at 139 sa PRO-9
Sa Luzon, ang National Capital Region Police Office ay mayroong 24 BEI cops; PRO-1, nasa 50; PRO-2, nasa 20; PRO-3, nasa 96, PRO-6, nasa 35; PRO-12, nasa 43; at 17 sa PRO-Cordillera.
“These deputized police officers are ready to assist if they will be needed. Hopefully, we’ll have a peaceful election so that they can just focus on the peace and order aspect of their job,” dagdag pa ng kalihim.
Sa ngayon nasa full alert status na ang PNP kung saan nasa kabuuang 149,830 police officers nationwide ang nakatutok sa halalan.
Sa deployment ng mga pulis, nasa 6,083 pulis ang nakatalaga sa Election Monitoring Action Center; COMELEC Warehouse and Hub nasa 1,923; Canvassing Centers, 4,566; Election Boards, 2,838; checkpoints, 7,817; Boarder Control Chokepoint, 3,415; Civil Disturbance Management, 1,901.
