Hong Kong authorities heightened their security measures after protesters kicked off a fresh round of rallies at Hong Kong International Airport on Friday.
Anti-government protesters were aiming to get international support from arriving tourists as the massive rally around the region continues.
Hong Kong authority said only departing passengers with travel documents will be allowed to enter the terminal amid the escalating cycle of horrendous violence.
Hundreds of people have joined a mass sit-in while holding a mock boarding pass reading “HK to freedom” and “warm pick-up to guests to HK.”
This will be the second time protesters have brought their silent battles to the international hub.
The gatherings, expected to run over three days, have not been authorized, but the last demonstration at the airport passed off peacefully without causing flight disruptions.
Organisers were expecting more rallyists to join, and hoped that authorities would respect what they promised would be a peaceful protest that is expected to last until Sunday.
