GWANGJU, South Korea – Humingi ng paumanhin ang Hungarian swimmer na si Tamas Kenderesi sa umano’y panghihipo nito sa isang nightclub dancer makaraang damputin ito dahil sa reklamong sexual harassment sa kalagitnaan ng world championships sa South Korea.
Pinagbawalan muna ng mga otoridad ang 22-year-old Olympic bronze medallist na makaalis sa nasabing bansa habang nagpapatuloy pa ang imbestigasyon ng pulisya hinggil sa insidenteng nangyari sa isang bar sa Gwangju.
Umamin naman si Kenderesi na hinipuan nito ang nang-aakusa, ngunit mariin naman nitong itinanggi ang paratang na sexual harassment.
“After coming back from the toilets and heading towards the dance floor, I touched the backside of a Korean girl who was working as a dancer at the club,” anang swimmer sa isang pahayag.
“I did not even stop behind her – I took only a single, perhaps thoughtless move, which seriously angered this girl who filed a complaint against me.”
“Realizing the seriousness of the situation, I was absolutely cooperative throughout the entire process,” added Kenderesi, who finished last in the men’s 200 metres butterfly final last week.
“I deeply regret what happened and I wish to beg for the Korean girl’s forgiveness. But I strongly deny that I’m guilty in any kind of sexual harassment.”
Kinumpirma naman ng team officials ng Hungary at ng governing body ng swimming na FINA na pinalaya na si kenderesi ngunit hindi ito papahintulutang umalis sa bansa sa sunod na 10 araw.
