Nagbigay din ng reaksyon ang ilang senador sa naging meeting nina Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at US President Joe Biden partikular sa mga binatawan nilang pananalita kaugnay sa pagkakaibigan at alyansa ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.
Sinabi ni Sen. Francis Tolentino, suportado nito ang pagkilala ni Pangulong Marcos sa US bilang pinakamahalagang economic and defense ally.
Ayon kay Tolentino, hindi ito maituturing na pagbabago sa pakikitungo ng Pilipinas sa US dahil matagal at malalim talaga ang ugnayan at relasyon ng mga Pilipino at mga Amerikano.
Kaya wala daw shift o pagbabago sa historical alliance ng Pilipinas at Estados Unidos.
Ang “recalibrated” relations daw ng nagdaang administrasyon sa ibang bansa gaya sa US ay bahagi ng dyanmics ng nagbabagong diplomasya depende sa interes ng bansa.
“I support President Marcos’ recognition of the United States as our most important economic and defense ally. This is not a “pivot” as this mirrors chronicled and deeply-rooted bonds between Filipinos and Americans. There has never been a shift insofar as our historical alliance with the United States is concerned. The previous Administration’s “recalibrated” relations with other countries is part of the dynamics of evolving diplomacy wherein the interests of the Nation is always primordial. The recent events in New York should signal a more robust economic, military and people to people partnership with the United States, as it has always been,” ani Sen. Tolentino.
Sa panig naman ni Sen. Loren Legarda, ang relasyon ng Pilipinas sa Estados Unidos ay parehong may historical at cultural roots at napakahalaga lalo ngayong panahon ng global energy at food insecurity sa gitna ng climate crisis.
Inihayag ni Legarda na ang mga Amerikano ay maaasahang kaalyado lalo bilang balancing force sa nagbabagong geo-political landscape.
“Our ties with the United States has both historical and cultural roots, and is deemed important especially during these times of global energy and food insecurity amid the climate crisis. They are an ally we can rely on especially as a balancing force in the ever evolving geo political landscape,” ani Legarda.
