Tiwala ang ilang senador na magiging epektibo si Budget Sec. Benjamin Diokno bilang bagong Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) governor.
Ayon kay Sen. Panfilo Lacson, kahit walang gaanong banking experience si Diokno, naniniwala siya sa mataas na reputasyon nito mula nang humawak ng tungkulin sa gobyerno.
“Sec. Diokno may not be the best choice since he is not well known to have much banking experience and has yet to introduce himself to the international banking community. Nevertheless, knowing his long, reputable public service, both in the budget department and in the academe where he served with competence and integrity, he is still a welcome appointment as BSP governor,†wika ni Lacson.
Ayon naman kay Senate committee on finance chairperson Sen. Loren Legarda, pasok ang mga kasanayan ng kalihim sa mga hamon bilang bagong BSP governor.
“Congratulations, Ben Diokno on your appointment as the Governor of the BSP. I have high regard for your competence and expertise, which make you fit for this position,” pahayag ni Legarda.
Sa panig naman ni Senate committee on banks and financial intermediaries chairman Sen. Francis Escudero, ang integridad umano ni Diokno ang dahilan kaya tamang tao ito bilang BSP head.
“As Chair of the Senate Committee on Banks & Financial Intermediaries, I would like to commend PRRD for appointing Sec. Diokno as the new BSP Governor. This will certainly ensure the stability, continuity & predictability of the country’s fiscal policies & gains. I wish him well!” ani ni Escudero.
