ILOILO CITY- The town of Iloilo declared Monday a dengue-outbreak

In an exclusive interview of Bombo Radyo Iloilo with Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas, he said that the basis of Executive Order 023 is the rapidly-increasing number of cases for dengue hemorrhagic fever.

The city health department recorded a 416.7% of dengue cases since January 2019.

Treñas also said that such cases were alarming. An average of 3 victims are being diagnosed of the mosquito-borne disease every day.

However, he assured that his office approved a fund that would be use for the purchase of chemicals to help those who are in need.

Prior to the declaration, the city held its first massive clean-up campaign on Saturday to encourage residents to clean their homes and destroy mosquito-breeding places in their vicinity.

Last week, the Department of Health declared a national dengue alert which prompts public hospitals, health centers, and local government units to be prepared with medicine, equipment and personnel to respond to dengue cases. / with reports from Bombo Radyo Iloilo; edited by Bombo Sol Marquez.
