Authorities of Iran are preparing for the execution of the British-Iranian and former Deputy Iranian Defence Minister Alireza Akbari on the charges of spying for the United Kingdom (UK).
The wife of Alireza Akbari said that Akbari was removed from solitary confinement and authorities told them to have the final visit at the prison.
United Kingdom (UK) call to hold the execution and release Akbari. They continuously raise the concern to Iran authorities in support of the family of the convicted former Deputy Iranian Defence Minister.
“This is a politically motivated act by a barbaric regime that has total disregard for human life”, Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said in a post.
They even requested urgent consular access but Iran does not recognize dual citizenship.
It can be remembered that back in 2019, he was arrested but he denied the accusation to him.
Akbari was invited to go to Iran a few years ago about the involvement in nuclear talks with world powers but was accused of being a spy and getting secrets from the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
According to Akbari, he was tortured for more than 3,500 hours.
“During all those 3,500 hours, which took more than 10 months, they were recording my confession with 10 cameras to make their Hollywood-style film,” said Akbari in an audio message.
He added that he was even forced to confess false confessions and corrupt claims.
However, hours after the audio message, the Iranian judiciary Mizan news agency verified that Akbari was guilty of espionage and his appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court.
