Jeff Horn

Nagpaliwanag si Australian boxer Jeff Horn sa pag-urong nito sa oportunidad na makatunggali ang Japanese fighter na si Ryota Murata sa isang middleweight clash sa Tokyo.

Ayon kay Horn, mula kasi sa orihinal na Hunyo 2 ay nailipat sa Hulyo 12 ang magiging petsa ng pinaplantsang pagtutuos ng dalawa.

Paliwanag ni Horn, naka-schedule kasing isilang ng kanyang asawa ang kanilang ikalawang supling sa nasabing panahon.

“My family has always come first. Jo really needs me to help her in the weeks after the birth and I want to be there too. To me that’s a lot more precious than money or winning a big fight,” wika ni Horn.

Naniniwala naman ang kanyang promoter na si Dean Lonergan, nararapat lamang umano ang naging pasya ng dating WBO welerweight titleholder.

“Bob Arum then graciously offered us the fight with Murata in Tokyo on June 2,” ani Lonergan. “That date suited us but they pushed the fight out to July 12 and Jeff said that, with the baby coming, he wouldn’t take it no matter how much money was on the table.”

Si Murata, na 2012 Olympic gold medal winner at dating WBA “regular” champion sa 160-pound division, ay hindi pa lumalaban uli sa boxing ring mula nang magapi ito sa isang 12-round decision sa kamay ni Rob Brant noong Oktubre.
