The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured Apo Hiking Society’s singer Jim Paredes their readiness to investigate the leakage of his sex video that quickly circulated in social media but it will still depend on Paredes if he would seek help from them.
On the said video, the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) legend can be seen ”bashing his candle” while doing a video call wiith someone. The video scandal quickly spread like a wildfire on social media.
Paredes initially denied being the man in the video but eventually admitted in his blog that it was him. The singer said he was clueless how it circulated because it was “private, and not meant for public”
On the latter part of his blog post, the singer apologized for his irresponsibility and felt deeply sorry for the embarrasment it brought to his family.
According to PNP Spokesperson Police Colones Bernard Banac, this could be a violation of Cyber Crime Law if indeed Mr. Paredes was unaware of the uploading of his private video but they have yet to receive a formal complaint first from Paredes’ side.
“Kung mangyari man na talagang hihingi [siya] ng tulong, nakahanda po ang PNP na umalalay at imbestigahan ang pangyayari,” he added.
On the other hand, one of Jim’s friend and fellow singer Leah Navarro expressed her dismay on those who leaked Paredes’ video and pointed out that these people should be punished.
Jaime Ramon “Jim” Paredes is a Filipino musician, producer, writer, television personality and a political activist and influencer notably with the Liberal Party (LP).
He is also best known for being one of the members of the Filipino iconic band Apo Hiking Society together with Buboy Garovillo and Danny Javier.
Apo Hiking Society wrote the famous songs like “Batang-Bata Ka Pa,” “Awit ng Barkada” and “Panalangin.”
The group retired last December 2009 but its members remained active in music industry.
