Time-lapse footage from the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory has captured ash emissions from the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano, recorded between 7:41 AM and 7:51 AM yesterday, January 1, 2025.

Snapshots taken earlier from 6:05 AM to 7:44 AM documented similar activity, showing grayish plumes rising 100-200 meters above the crater before drifting westward.

The observatory recorded a total of seven discrete ash emission events during the day, signaling a continued state of unrest.

Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3, indicating that magma is at the crater and that hazardous eruptions are possible within weeks or even days.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) continues to closely monitor the volcano. Residents and tourists are reminded to adhere to the 4-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and avoid activities near the volcano due to risks of sudden explosions and rockfall.
