Bibili umano ng karagdagang bulletproof vests ang PNP para magamit ng mga pulis sa mga ilulunsad nilang operasyon laban sa krimen.
“For years, we have been acquiring police equipment that would be used by our personnel in the field while fulfilling their duties as law enforcers. And this time we will acquire more bullet-proof vests to ensure the safety of our personnel whose lives are in peril in times of police operations,” saad ni PNP chief PGen. Ayon kay Sinas, handa ang mga kriminal na bumaril ng mga pulis, kaya kailangan ng mga alagad ng batas na magsuot ng karagdagang proteksyon para maiwasan ang posibleng pagkalagas ng buhay.
“As part of my core guidance, all personnel on operations, such as patrol, anti-illegal drugs, anti-kidnapping, and others, must wear bulletproof vests, and other protective equipment,” ani Sinas.
Nakatulong din aniya ang bulletproof vest para mailigtas ang buhay ni Staff Sgt. Alex Tortogo Bayona, na nasugatan sa engkwentro sa pagitan ng 94th Special Action Company at ng mga hinihinalang miyembro ng New People’s Army (NPA) sa Labo, Camarines Norte.
Nasagip si Bayona ng suot nitong tactical gear front hard ballistic plate vest sa kasagsagan ng shootout.
Batay sa assessment ng mga doktor sa Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital, nagtamo si Bayona ng second-degree burn sa kaliwang bahagi ng dibdib nang barilin ng suspect na si Jonel Alcanzo.
Kasalukuyan nang nagpapagaling ang nasabing SAF trooper.
