Twenty-three year old Ken Suson of Pinoy pop group SB19 is the first Filipino idol to appear in a South Korean LED billboard.
The LED billboard can be seen at Seodaemun, Seoul, South Korea, and will reportedly run for 7 days until January 13, a day after his 24th birthday.
The feat was made possible through fan voting in December of last year via the IdolPick app, which ranks idols in Asia.
Suson is officially the only Pinoy chosen to be part of the January list of idols to appear in their birthday Ad support.
In an earlier interview by 89.5 Star FM Baguio with the group, Ken has expressed his gratitude to their fans and he promised that there is more to look forward to in their career in the industry.
“We are very thankful sa mga supporters namin. Nandiyan pa rin sila para suportahan kami. Sobrang thankful lang din namin kasi pinaghihirapan namin yung mga ginagawa namin at may mga taong nakaka-appreciate ng hard work namin. Thank you so much sa pagtanggap sa amin. Madami pa kaming surprises [na ire-release] so abangan niyo rin yun,” the main dancer of SB19 shares.
The year 2020 has been a huge year for the P-Pop group, as they became the first Southeast Asian act to make it to the Top 10 of the Year-End Billboard Social 50 Chart, landing at number 6, just behind powerhouse acts like BTS, EXO, NCT 127, Ariana Grande and SEVENTEEN.
In the most recent Billboard chart release, the group’s hit ballad “Hanggang sa Huli” also made it to the number 1 spot of the Billboard LyricFind Global Chart, which is their fifth number 1 song in LyricFind after “Alab”, “Tilaluha”, “ikako”, and “Love Goes”.
SB19 was also recognized as P-Pop Group of the Year, with “Hanggang sa Huli” named OPM Song of the Year at the Star FM Best of 2020.
