Kevin Durant was forced to leave the court in the second quarter of Game 5 of the NBA Finals between Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors.
The two-time Finals MVP opened the game by burying 11 points in the first and early second quarter.
He left with still 9:46 minutes during second period.
Durant, already suffering from a calf injury, collided with Toronto’s Serge Ibaka, causing him to be out of the court.
Raptors’ fans cheered and waved at Durant as he fell on the floor, prompting Warriors guard Klay Thompson and Raptors’ guard Kyle Lowry to wave them off.
As per Golden State statement, he will not return to the game because of a “right lower leg injury” and will get an MRI tomorrow for further evaluation.
Durant joined the team practice before the game 5 for the first time since suffering the calf injury during the Western Conference semifinals against the Rockets.
“He looked good,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. “We’ll see where it goes.” / Edited by Bombo Bam Orpilla
