BAGUIO CITY – The municipality of Lamut in Ifugao Province was placed under a state of calamity due to dengue outbreak following the death of two residents due to dengue fever.

The declaration came following recommendations from the municipality’s health office and a request from Mayor Mariano Buyagawan Jr.

The Sangguniang Bayan thru Municipal Resolution 2019–10–023 said that there is an occurrence of dengue epidemic in all of Lamut’s 18 barangays.

The resolution states that the data is alarming and showed significant evidence that there is dengue outbreak in the municipality.

“The municipality recorded the occurrence of dengue epidemic in the 18 barangays with two fatalities in one of the barangays,” the resolution read.

The local Government Code authorizes the concerned local government unit’s access to the calamity fund which is 5 percent of its annual budget.

Said fund can be used quick response funds in addressing the increase of dengue cases in the municipality.

Department of Health (DOH) recorded 4,704 dengue cases in the Cordillera Region with nine deaths as of August 10 wherein Ifugao Province recorded a share of 478 dengue cases.

Apayao recorded 819 cases; Benguet 778 cases with 4 deaths; Abra with 693 cases; Kalinga 573 cases with one death; Baguio 384 and one death; and Mountain Province 334 cases with one death.
