A lot of people rushed to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – National Capital Region (NCR) office in the hope of financial assistance but it turned out to be wrong information.
Since Thursday morning, the number of people has been continuously increasing until today. However, the DSWD officials confirmed that there was no such announcement.
“Kahit po kami ay medyo nagulat dahil supposedly naman po na-discuss pa natin ito last week or week ago pa na suspendido ‘yung pamamahagi po natin ng financial assistance dahil nga inaayos pa po natin ang pondo,” DSWD Assistant Secretary Rommel Lopez said.
(Even us were surprised because supposedly we discussed it last week that we have suspended the distribution because currently we are working on the funds.)
Some of the applicants said that they heard from other beneficiaries about the application for 10,000 pesos financial assistance.
As of now, DSWD had the initial investigation of the said incident.
“Iimbestigahan namin yung allegedly na announcement nga po na may distribution ng assistance na unfortunately nga po ay talagang na-misled yung ating mga kababayan,” DSWD officer-in-charge Undersecretary Edu Punay said.
(We are going to investigate the alleged announcement of the distribution of assistance since unfortunately it misled the people.)
He added that the staff of DSWD-NCR will manage this incident for the convenience and good accommodation of the concerned applicants.
Last January 3, it can be remembered that the DSWD Assistant Secretary Rommel Lopez clarified that the cash assistance will continue after two weeks.
