Hindi naitago ni Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James ang kanyang pagkadismaya matapos matalo sa botohan para sa NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award.
Kung maalala, hinirang na MVP ngayong taon si Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo matapos makatanggap ng 85 na boto mula sa panel ng global sports writers at broadcasters.
Bukod sa MVP award ay hinirang din si Antetokounmpo kamakailan bilang Defensive Player of the Year, kaya naging kahanay na nito sina Michael Jordan at Hakeem Olajuwon bilang tanging mga manlalarong nakakukuha ng parehong award sa isang season.
Samantala, pumangalawa lamang si James na nakalikom ng 16 first-place votes, habang nasa ikatlong puwesto si James Harden.
Ayon kay LeBron, hindi raw ito natuwa nang makita niyang nagtapos lamang siya sa ikalawang puwesto na mayroong napakalayong agwat.
“Not saying that the winner wasn’t deserving of the MVP, but that (ticked) me off,” wika ni James.
Hindi rin naiwasan ni LeBron na ihayag ang kanyang duda sa kung paano ang pagdesisyon sa awards.
“I don’t know how much we are really watching the game of basketball, or are we just in the narration mode, the narrative,” ani James.
Sa huli, ipinunto na lamang ni LeBron na posibleng sa kada season ay iba-iba ang lumalabas na resulta batay sa voting criteria.
“I don’t know, I’m not gonna sit up here and talk about what the criteria should be or what it is,” sambit ni James. “It’s changed over the years since I’ve gotten into the league. It’s just changed, it’s changed a lot. Sometimes it’s, you know, the best player, not the best team. Sometimes it’s the guy with the best season statistically. It’s changed over the course of my career. You don’t know. Giannis had a hell of a season, you can definitely say that.”
