BACOLOD CITY – The overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are safe as the fighting gets closer to the Libyan capital Tripoli, according to a Tripoli-based OFW.
In an interview with Star FM Bacolod, Lito Morada said many Filipinos in Libya are survivors of the war that happened previously in the country, so they already know how to deal with the conflict.
“A lot of us here are Libyan war survivors. So, we can handle situation and we have safety preacuations for ourselves,” said Morada who has been working in Libya for 13 years.
The Philippine Embassy in Libya continues to monitor the situation and issue advisories while assuring the Filipino community that they remain in Libya despite reports of some countries evacuating their diplomatic staff from Tripoli.
