Kinumpirma ng Department of Health (DOH) na may unang kaso na ng local transmission ng novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) sa Pilipinas.

Ayon kay Health Sec. Francisco Duque, lumabas na walang recent travel record sa labas ng bansa ang ikalimang kaso na idineklarang positibo kahapon sa sakit. Ito ay batay umano sa datos ng Bureau of Immigration.

“The DOH is currently exhausting all its efforts to identify others who may have come in contact with the confirmed cases to ensure that this localized transmission does not progress to community spread,” ani Duque.

Dahil dito, idineklara na ng DOH ang Code Red sublevel 1 na nag-aalerto sa mga pribado at pampublikong ospital hinggil sa posibilidad na dumami pa ang kaso ng COVID-19 sa bansa.

“DOH is quick to clarify that this is a preemptive call to ensure that national and local governments and public and private health care providers can prepare for possible increase in suspected and confirmed cases.”

Kaugnay nito, kinumpirma rin ng DOH na nag-tested positive din ang asawa ng ikalimang COVID-19 patient.

Kinilala ng ahensya ang bagong kaso na isang 59-year old na babae, na nakaranas ng ubo at in-admit sa Research Institure for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

Dagdag pa ni Sec. Duque, ire-rekomenda na niya sa Office of the President para magdeklara ng State of Public Health Emergency.
