Masbate Province recorded 123 aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 1.6 to 4.2 as of 12:00 NN, February 16, 2023, after a magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit the said province.

The plotted earthquakes on the other hand are 44, and the felt earthquake is 13.

According to the State seismologist, the quake was felt at 2:10 AM.

The epicenter was 11 kilometers southwest of Batuan town, with a 10 km estimated depth.

As of now based on the report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, there were no recorded casualties in Masbate.

“As of now, wala pang sinu-submit ang mga local DRRMOs as to casualties and damage,” says Masbate PDRRMO head Dr. Adonis Dilao.

Moreover, patients from one of the hospitals in Masbate evacuated and had to put tents outside in case there will be more aftershocks.

The classes on all level and the work of government employees in the said province is suspended until further notice.
