KALIBO, Aklan — A man was killed after being hacked by his cousin, who allegedly has mental health issues, in Barangay Mobo, Kalibo, Aklan.
The victim, identified as Jenson De Juan, an adult resident of Barangay Bagto, Lezo, was found drenched in his own blood after suffering fatal wounds to his neck and head, inflicted by his cousin, Dante Morales, 51, a resident of the same area.
Prior to the incident, Morales had reportedly been chasing his neighbors while wielding two bolos (machetes) and continued his rampage until reaching Barangay Aliputos in the town of Numancia.
According to PSSgt. Iriel Fernandez of the Numancia Municipal Police Station, the suspect attempted to flee but was eventually apprehended in a banana grove. Morales, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, appeared agitated and unstable when captured.
It was also revealed that two of Morales’ siblings also suffer from mental health issues.
Morales is currently detained at the Kalibo Municipal Police Station after being handed over by Numancia PNP personnel.
