Kinumpirma ng pamunuan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang maagang pagre-retiro ni Philippine Marines commandant Major Gen. Alvin Parreño.
Ayon kay AFP chief of staff Lt. Gen. Noel Clement, hindi pa nito tukoy kung ano ang sinasabing personal reasons ni Parreño sa early retirement nito sa serbisyo.
Sa ngayon ay hinihintay na lang daw nila ang confirmation sa maagang pagre-retiro ng Marines commandant, gayundin ang pagtanggap dito ni Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana.
Itinanggi naman ni Clement na may namumuong tensyon sa loob sa loob ng sandatahang lakas ng bansa.
“I dont think its, these are actually rumblings to the point of talking of their discontented of whats going, I think they just talk about the issue and probably they have their own personal opinions about the matter but rest assured that the Armed Forces leadership is trying to address whatever issues that will arise from the early retirement of the marine commandant if that will push through,” ayon sa AFP chief.
Una ng lumabas ang ulat mula sa ilang sources ang pagsibak umano ni Philippine Navy Flag Office – Vice Admiral Robert Empredad kay Parreño dahil sa hindi umano nila pagkakaunawaan sa mga polisiya.
Batay sa report, nagkaroon ng lamat sa pagitan ng dalawang opisyal dahil nais ni Parreño na mahiwalay ang hanay ng Marines mula sa Navy para maging major service ng AFP.
Batchmate sina Empredad at Parreño sa Class 1986 ng Philippine Military Academy, kasama si Philippine National Police chief police Gen. Oscar Albayalde.
Nakatakdang pumalit sa pwesto ni Parreño ang kasalukuyang Naval Inspector General ng Navy na si Major Gen. Nathaniel Casem ng PMA Class 1987.
