Pinapatugis na ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) sa local government units (LGUs) at Philippine National Police (PNP) ang scammers na nagpapakilalang contact tracers para makakulimbat ng pera.
Ayon kay Interior Sec. Eduardo Año, may grupong nagpapanggap na mula sa Department of Health (DOH) at sinasamantala ang nararanasang coronavirus pandemic upang magkapera.
Una na ring nagbabala ang DOH sa publiko sa ilang mga indibidwal na nagpapakilalang miyembro ng DOH Contact Tracing Team.
“These con artists are maliciously asking for personal information and extorting money in the process. The public is advised to be vigilant and not entertain these calls,” wika ng kalihim.
Aniya, hindi gawain ng DOH ang “verification of basic information and ensure that they have been referred by your Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs)”
“I urge all LGUs and our men and women of the PNP to immediately investigate these criminal activities,” ani Año.
“The public must beware. ‘Wag po tayong magpaloko sa mga ito,” dagdag nito.
