Up to 1.1 million hectares of agricultural land are at risk at the height of typhoon Egay’s devastation.
It is from ten regions across the country which includes Region I, II, III, IV-A, IV-B, V, VI, VII, VIII, and CAR.
According to the Department of Agriculture, this includes 845,710 hectares of rice crops, and 341,556 hectares of cornfields.
Because of this, the department is notifying farmers to harvest their rice crops and HVCCs before the strong winds and rains.
Apart from this, the department also notified the farmers to clean the irrigation channels and embankments to avoid flooding.
The department also reminded fishermen to catch their fish early and postpone fishing, especially in areas that may experience strong winds that will cause high currents.
The Department of Agriculture promised that it will continue preparing aid for affected farmers and fishermen throughout the country.
