Canada expects an increase in Filipino visitors after launching its visa-free program for eligible Filipinos.

Filipinos who have traveled to Canada in the past 10 years or hold a valid United States non-immigrant visa qualify for visa-free entry to the North American country.

According to Canada, they only need to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

The Philippines is among the 13 countries selected for the program.

Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines David Hartman stated that 82,000 people have already availed themselves of visa-free entry.

The ambassador added that the Electronic Travel Authorization program is part of their efforts to further enhance people-to-people ties.

He stated that Canada is ready to welcome more Filipino visitors through the Electronic Travel Authorization initiative.

Currently, there are already one million Canadians with Filipino heritage residing in Canada.
