Posible umanong tumagal ng hanggang 30 araw ang ipinataw ng pamunuan ng NBA na suspensyon sa kasalukuyang season dahil sa mga pangamba sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Matatandaang inilabas ng NBA ang nakakagulat nitong pasya makaraang magpositibo sa sakit si Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.
Agad namang umapela ang mga NBA owners sa liderato ng liga na i-reevaluate ang suspensyon.
Pero ayon kay NBA commissioner Adam Silver, masyado pa raw maaga para sabihin kung kailan target ng liga na ipagpatuloy ang kanilang mga games.
Binigyang-diin din ni Silver na may posibilidad din na hindi na lamang bawiin ang suspensyon sa NBA season.
“Of course the issue becomes now, what we determined today, is that this hiatus will be most likely at least 30 days,” wika ni Silver. “And we don’t know enough to be more specific than that. But we wanted to give direction to our players and teams and fans that this is going to be roughly at least a month.
“But then the question becomes is there a protocol frankly with or without fans in which we can resume play,” dagdag nito. “I think the goal [is] … what makes sense here without compromising anyone’s safety. It’s frankly too early to tell.”
Sa liham naman ni Silver para sa mga NBA fans, nilinaw ng opisyal na balak nilang ituloy ang season sakaling maging ligtas na ang sitwasyon para sa lahat.
“In the meantime, we will continue to coordinate with infectious disease and public health experts along with government officials to determine safe protocols for resuming our games,” ani Silver.
