Sinuspinde ng Brooklyn Nets ang kanilang superstar player na si Kyrie Irving ng limang games kasunod na rin ng kanyang mga pahayag o mga antisemetic beliefs.
Nag-ugat umano ang negatibong pananaw ni Irving sa social media post ukol sa isang libro at pelikula na merong mga antisemetic words laban sa mga Jews.
Gayunman sa post practice media session ay nagmatigas si Irving na hindi hihingi ng apology.
Dito na nagpagsabihan siya ng team na sa ngayon hindi maganda na maging bahagi siya ng Brooklyn Nets kaya naman dismayado sila.
Ayon sa koponan hindi maganda ang iginawi ni Irving dahil sa kabiguan nitong humingi ng paumanhin.
Si NBA commissioner Adam Silver, ay dismayado rin sa naging asal ni Irving at gusto raw niya itong kausapin.
“I am disappointed that he has not offered an unqualified apology and more specifically denounced the vile and harmful content contained in the film he chose to publicize,” ani Silver bago muling nagsalita si Irving.
Pagkalipas nga ng apat na oras ay naglabas na rin ng apology si Irving gamit ang kanyang Instagram account upang ipaabot sa lahat ng Jewish families at kumunidad na nasaktan sa kanyang sinabi.
“To All Jewish families and Communities that are hurt and affected from my post, I am deeply sorry to have caused you pain, and I apologize. I initially reacted out of emotion to being unjustly labeled Anti-Semitic, instead of focusing on the healing process of my Jewish Brothers and Sisters that were hurt from the hateful remarks made in the Documentary. I want to clarify any confusion on where I stand fighting against Anti- semticism by apologizing for posting the documentary without context and a factual explanation outlining the specific beliefs in the Documentary I agreed with and disagreed with. I had no intentions to disrespect any Jewish cultural history regarding the Holocaust or perpetuate any hate. I am learning from this unfortunate event and hope we can find understanding between us all.”
Samantala dahil sa suspension, hindi makakalaro si Irving laban sa Washington, Charlotte at Dallas, gayundin sa home games kontra New York at laban sa Clippers.
Sa ngayon may dalawa pa lamang na panalo ang Nets at anim na ang talo sa pagsisimula ng bagong season ng NBA.
