ILOILO CITY – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is awaiting for the Sandiganabayan’s decision for Janiuay, Iloilo Mayor-elect Frankie Locsin, who is on hospital arrest.
Locsin was detained for two weeks after being arrested by NBI for plunder cases.
In an exclusive interview of Bombo Radyo Iloilo with Atty. Raul Quinto, assistant Regional Director of NBI-6, he said that they are still waiting for the physician’s approval to let Locsin travel to Manila for the hearing.
The anti-graft court said Locsin has been involved in the purchase of Local Government Unit (LGU) of Janiuay, Iloilo with P15 million drugs using Sen. Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF). Vicente Sotto III in 2001.
The medical supply contract was given to AM Europharma even though the accreditation of the said company was suspended by the Department of Health (DOH).
Apart from Locsin, the Municipal Accountant Carlos Moreno Jr., Budget Officer Ramon Tirador, Treasurer Luzviminda Figueroa, Ricardo Minurtio and Rodrigo Villanueva were sentenced to six to 10 years of imprisonment and perpetual disqualification to hold public office. / Edited by Bombo Sol Marquez
