The new normal has unveiled the new setup and a renewed rivalry, not to boxers but also promoters.
Top Rank legendary promoter Bob Arum is continuously engaging in a war of words against Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn.
The two have a history of disliking each other, but the recent build-up seemed to reach another level.
Arum did not hold back on his tirade and claim that Hearn only thinks about the money to earn and not about the fight itself.
“Any fight that Eddie Hearn does, whether it’s a major fight or a little fight, they put on pay-per-view because Sky Sports is only interested in a money grab. Soak the boxing fans for whatever they can,” said Arum.
He also hit the Sky Sports broadcast, which has been Hearn’s partner. This comes after Arum’s struggle to find a European broadcast to air the VasiliyLomachenko- Teofimo Lopez Jr bout on October 17.
Arum mindlessly fired what he felt that he even doesn’t care if they wouldn’t get a deal with Sky Sports from now on.
“These networks need to understand how people are hurting. People in this country and the U. K. are out of work because of this pandemic. It’s immoral to require people to spend money watching their favorite sport every week, every other week. What Sky Sports is doing in the U.K. is an absolute disgrace. I don’t care if they never buy another fight from me. What they’re doing now is a disgrace.”
