Tom Thibodeau will be the one calling the shots for the celebrated franchise yet one of the lowest team in the NBA right now, the New York Knicks.
The deal was finalized on a five-year deal. Thibodeau was known for his outstanding job as an head coach during the Derrick Rose era in Chicago before jumping to different teams.
“Tom Thibodeau is a proven winner who gets the most out of the players and teams that he has coached. He will bring leadership, accountability and a hard-working mentality to our organization,” Leon Rose, the Knicks president said.
The Knicks were expected to land superstars last summer, however, none of those they targeted nod as they finished with 21-45 (win-loss record) this season before the shutdown occurred.
While the job is very challenging, Thibodeau was glad for the opportunity given by the Knicks franchise.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to return to this historic franchise as head coach and work alongside a talented front office that I have great trust in and respect for.”
