TACLOBAN CITY – President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday visited the wounded soldiers who fought against New People’s Army (NPA) at Brgy. Pinanag-an, Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

Among those who received the medal were Sgt. Kenneth John Arcina, Cpl. Linlito Donayre; Pfc. Albert Abegonia; Pvt. Darwin Aborquez; Pvt. Joshua Pacuan; Cpl. Aljon Aguilos; Pfc. Rex Batis Jr. and Patrolman Jomar Aballe.
The Order of Lapu-Lapu is given to persons in government or private sector who have rendered extraordinary service or have made exceptional contributions to the success of the President’s campaign or advocacy.
Duterte even postponed his visit to the farmers in Cotabato City.
The President also sent his condolences to the families of the six military officials who died on the said encounter. Their wake is now at Camp General Vicente Lukban, Catbalogan City, Samar.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) gave P5,000 each as financial help to the victims while P10,000 for the families of the deceased.
