Ocasio-Cortez narrates ‘horrifying’ conditions of illegal immigrants held in Texas

First-term Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed the harsh reality behind the detention center in Texas where illegal immigrants were detained. The migrants were held in what Ocasio-Cortez’s described as a “horrifying” condition.

Ocasio-Cortez, together with delegate lawmakers from Congressional Hispanic Caucus, visited the border patrol facilities following reports from a government watchdog that immigrants were staying in overcrowded and unsanitary condition.

In a series of tweets, AOC said that some of the illegal immigrants were forced to drink water from the toilet while officers had used “psychological warfare” on migrants, “waking them at odd hours for no reason, calling them whores, etc.”

AOC called out Customs and Border Protection investigation into a Facebook page where CBP officials made fun about migrant deaths and which referenced her Caucus’ visit, using derogatory language about the lawmakers. One Facebook post featured a fake image of Ocasio-Cortez being forced to perform sexual acts.

Meanwhile, one refrain we‘ve heard is that people are overcrowded in CBP concentration camps because the shelters (which are humane places where families can stay together) are full.

However, U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are still not responding to give comments on Ocasio-Cortez’s claim.
