A decade after retiring, Oscar De la Hoya is finally making a comeback inside the boxing ring, and it might not stop sooner.
As he makes his much-awaited return later this month to face UFC legend Victor Belfort, the Golden Boy is already targeting his next opponent.
Although he pulled out from calling out Canelo Alvarez, which surely he will get beaten by, De la Hoya is now eyeing Floyd Mayweather.
“I changed my mind. Not because of anything, or he’ll knock me out.
“It’s just I thought it over, and I’d rather call out – after I do two [comeback bouts] – Floyd Mayweather or Felix Trinidad.”
Mayweather himself is known for unretiring several times, and De la Hoya is hoping he can get in the ring with the unbeaten American and do a real fight despite their age at 40 plus.
“This is not a game. “We don’t play boxing. We don’t play UFC. We don’t play MMA. “I literally said if we’re going to do this, let’s do it for real. Let’s not do this song and dance. “Let’s not do these exhibitions that we’re tired of. This is the real thing.”
