PHILIPPINES May 28, 2024 – Over 30 companies and organizations from the private sector joined forces to show solidarity in commemorating National Flag Day, marking the return of this significant initiative on a full scale since the pandemic.
This collaborative effort saw a simultaneous flag-raising ceremony at exactly eight in the morning across more than 300 locations nationwide.
In an effort to promote awareness of the country’s foremost symbol, the Salute To A Clean Flag (STACF) Movement, led by Pronove Tai International Property Consultants, mobilized the country’s biggest property developers, companies, residential villages, and industry associations.
They were encouraged to install Philippine flags on their premises and major streets, organize a simultaneous flag ceremony, and spread awareness about this occasion through memos to their members.
“I’m proud to see the growing participation from the property and financial sectors this year. By having the simultaneous flag ceremony in hundreds of offices, malls, and buildings, we demonstrate the private sector’s solidarity and commitment to national unity and pride,” said STACF Flag Ambassador Atty. Tess Herbosa – former Securities and Exchange Commission Chair and a descendant of Jose Rizal and the niece of Delfina Rizal Herbosa de Natividad—one of the three women who sewed the Philippine flag in Hong Kong in 1898.
“If we Filipinos can show the world how much we respect our flag and our country, perhaps our neighboring countries will give us the respect we deserve. We can stand together to turn the raging waters of conflict and aggression into a calm sea of genuine friendship and understanding. And we can peacefully coexist in the waters that connect us,” NPDC Executive Director Cecille Lorenzana Romero said.
The Stop and Salute Campaign is a project of The Salute To A Clean Flag Movement—a non-political, private sector-led initiative that aims to spark renewed respect and love for the country through the proper and abundant display of the flag. Since 1965, May 28 has been declared National Flag Day, traditionally celebrated by government agencies in Alapan. Awareness of this important date, which led to Philippine Independence, is a key part of the STACF mission.
Since the advocacy started as a CSR project of Pronove Tai on May 28, 2018, with only five locations, it has grown significantly. Pronove Tai, along with the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, National Parks and Development Committee and partners like PerkComm Inc, have reached out to major industry movers for this historic public and private sector partnership.
Among them are the Philippine Ecozones Association (PHILEA), Bankers Association of the Philippines, Federal Land, RCBC, Ayala Properties Management Corp., Filinvest Land, Rockwell Land, and Araneta City.
