DAVAO CITY – A 27-year old suspect is facing charges for violating Republic Act 9147, also known as Wildlife Act, after being nabbed in an entrapment of operation at a parking lot of Victoria Plaza, Bajada, Davao City.

The suspect was identified as Mark Lester Binggas, a resident of Kapalong, Davao del Norte province.

Binggas was held in custody after the agents of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) received a call regarding the selling of small crocodiles and its eggs.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were five (5) small crocodiles wherein one of them is a fresh water crocodile, and four other were salt water crocodiles. Both species were identified as critically endangered.

He admitted that the price of each crocodiles worth P15,000, and it was allegedly from his friend who instructed him to sell it. The authorities also recovered a total of P93,000 of crocodiles and eggs from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the rescued reptiles were turned over to a crocodile farm in Maa, Davao City.Binggas may face imprisonment of two to for years if found guilty.
