The return of Manny Pacquaio in the boxing ring is fast approaching, and his long-time trainer Freddie Roach is pretty upbeat about his progress.

Their chances of winning against the unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. come on August 21.

Roach also believed that Spence is not the old self after his near-death car accident in 2019.

“He knows where he’s at, and he’s in a good place. I know Errol Spence is an outstanding fighter, a good boxer, but I still don’t think — I’m very suspicious of that car accident. He’s lucky to be alive. I’m happy he’s alive, but it was a horrible car accident, and I still don’t think that’s over…Mentally, how could you (be 100% after the accident),” he said in an interview with Fight Hub TV.

Nonetheless, Roach is still happy for Spence that he was able to come back in boxing.

On the other news, Eumir Marcial, Pacquiao’s protégé, is eyeing to fly back to the US before the fight to watch his idol fights.

Marcial is fresh from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, wherein he brought home the bronze medal in the Philippines.

He said that he is going to spend time with his family first. If there is enough time, he will fly back to America to give back the support of Pacquiao.

The eight-division champ was very vocal on social media in supporting the journey of Marcial and other Filipino boxers. That’s why he will repay it by watching him live.
