Pinangunahan ni Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana ang high-level meeting na dinaluhan ng mga matataas na opisyal ng Department of National Defense (DND) at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Ang nasabing high-level meeting siyang First Quarter 2017 Command Conference na isinagawa kanina sa Kampo Aguinaldo.
Ayon kay AFP Public Affairs Office Chief Col Edgard Arevalo, dumalo din sa nasabing pagpupulong ang Panel Chairperson of Government Implementing Panel for Bangsamoro and Peace accords.
Highlight sa isinagawang command conference ay ang pagbibigay ng bagong direktiba o command guidance ni newly promoted four-star General na si AFP Chief of Staff Eduardo Año.
Sinabi ni Arevalo na malinaw ang direktiba ni Año lalo na sa kanilang prayoridad lalo na ang pag pulbos sa teroristang Abu Sayyaf, Maute Group, BIFF, at iba pang mga foreign at local terrorist groups.
Binigyang-diin ni General Año na bukod sa nakatuon sa combat operations nais din ng AFP na palakasin ang kanilang ugnayan sa mga stakeholders kasama na ang religious sector at local government.
Tiniyak din ni Ano na bibigyan niya ng prayoridad ang mga frontline units lalo na sa kanilang welfare.
Suportado din ng AFP ang peace process ng pamahalaan lalo na sa MILF, maging ang kampanya kontra iligal na droga.
“Under my watch, the AFP will be fully committed to the primacy of the peace process guided by the President’s Roadmap to Peace. We will support fully the government’s war on drugs and shall extend full support to the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies both in terms of personnel and intelligence,” pahayag ni General Año.
“Finally, i say there is no letter ‘I’ in the word ‘TEAM’. We shall all aspire for the collective accomplishment above individual fulfilment. Again, I urge the men and women of the AFP to work with me as we continue our journey together with our actions embed with the AFP Core Values of Honor, Service, and Patriotism,†dagdag nito.
