Malacañang dared former Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) to file charges if they believe the increase of President Rodrigo Duterte’s wealth are ill-gotten.
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo made the challenge following the statement of Sereno that as a government official, President Duterte must explain the increase of his wealth to the public.
However, Panelo insisted that Duterte did not violate any law asserting that “the law requires public officials to file their statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) which the president did.”
“If PCIJ and Sereno believe that the increases are ill gotten wealth they should file the appropriate charges,” Panelo said.
Aside from the president, PCIJ also reported the wealth increase of his daughter Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio and son Paolo.
